likebyregina What is better than a cup of latte? A photogenic latte with beautiful latte art. Richmond recently opens a cafe, Zenstone Coffee. And they are famous for their latte art and specialty coffees, such as Purple Yam Latte and Citrus Black Sesame Latte.
Richmond is an area that lacks cafes, or just anywhere to sit down and chill with friends. Instead, we mostly hang out in pools and dart places. This simple café just makes me want to go to Richmond more now! When I first walked in, it gives me a very peaceful feeling. It is bright and quiet, which is definitely a very nice place for me to study or to write my blog.
My friend and I ordered a drink each: Citrus Black Sesame Latte and Matcha White Mocha Latte (~$5). As I previously saw someone did not get any latte art on Instagram, I specifically asked the barista to make me a beautiful latte art, so I could take a picture of it. Yes yes yes… I came here mostly because of the latte art! The service is excellent, and I can see them making each cup with patience and care.
The barista did not disappoint me, and the black sesame latte comes with a teddy bear that is holding a heart in its hand. What a lovely piece of art! The drink itself is not sweet at all, instead, it has a hint of roasted black sesame to it. Unfortunately, I forgot to stir to allow the black sesame residual to be fully mixed to my latte (uh latte art is too pretty!) Otherwise, I am sure it would taste more flavorful.
As for the mocha, I personally found it is slightly bland. It lacks both white chocolate and matcha flavor. And I realize the espresso foam cannot be entirely mix in the drink, which makes the drink taste like a cup of milk.
Overall, I love the service and the ambiance here. Although the mocha is not my favorite, I would return for other drinks and their mini waffles in the store. I heard they just introduce Black Sugar Loaf and Butter Cream Cheese Cinnamon Bun, which probably gives me another reason to return.
