Weekend is all about brunch and almost all popular locations in Vancouver is filled with long line ups. But I am about to introduce you one with the minimal lineup and affordable, delicious breakfast/brunch. The Dirty Apron Cooking School, Delicatessen & Catering locates just right next to Jam Cafe on Beatty Street. They are known for cooking classes, but do you know they also serve amazing breakfast on weekdays and Saturdays?

The Dirty Apron is steps away from the Stadium-Chinatown station, and they offer breakfast and lunch on weekdays, and breakfast until 2 pm on Saturday. We went on last Saturday at 12 pm, and they are having a cooking class in the kitchen. The delicatessen is on the left, where you can find gourmet sandwiches, specialty coffee, hot lunches, and unique ingredients. It is spacious, with a quaint and relaxed ambiance.

With the server’s recommendation, we ordered the Salmon Biscuit and Sausage Biscuit. The biscuit is made in house, and I don’t know what to expect until I tried it.

Salmon Biscuit comes with avocado, tomato, salmon gravlax, sunny-side up egg, with a lemon chive mascarpone. I first tried a bite of the housemade biscuit with a spread of the mascarpone, and it was heavenly delicious. The egg yolk juice is soaked into every layer, and that’s the way I like it. The biscuit has a flaky outer shell, just like a croissant, but with a soft center. It is buttery, and the lemon chive mascarpone works well on the biscuit. It is refreshing and creamy. I think I can eat the biscuit on its own! There is nothing better than a breakfast simple but delicious like this.

Sausage Biscuit is similar, except with Mennonite sausage and no lemon-chive mascarpone. They cut the sausage in half, so you can enjoy all the ingredients in one bite. The sausage has crispy skin, and I think it did a good job of dominating the dish, and Mr. enjoyed it.

Overall Impression

It was my second time coming to the Dirty Apron, and they never disappoint me. Both Salmon Biscuit and Sausage Biscuit are equally and heavenly delicious, and I promise you won’t be able to get better biscuits elsewhere. I also enjoyed the ambiance here, which I am surrounded by chatters and laughter. Everyone is taking their time to enjoy every bit of the food. If you are in this area, I highly recommend trying this place, where you can sip on a coffee and enjoy a simple breakfast at your own pace.
