likebyregina Who wants to stay healthy, but can still eat delicious desserts? On Yogurt is one of the options in Yaletown. This is where I first tried ice fried yogurt. It is absolutely cool to watch the progress of making it, and more importantly, it is gluten-free and organic. For the past years, their menu expands to also include drinks, waffles, pastry, and bubble teas. This tiny shop just brings dessert to a whole new level.
I was glad to be invited to try some of their new items on the menu, which includes:
- Taro Coconut Ice Fried Yogurt Gelato
- Strawberry Taiyaki
- Matcha Waffle Combo
- Oreo Waffle Combo
- Taro Barley Milk
This is one of their seasonal flavors, and there is also Blue Tahiti, which is a mix of Tahitian vanilla bean and blue majik. I love how each bite of the yogurt has tiny chunks of taro, and the shredded coconut adds a different texture to it. However, the yogurt melts super fast, so make sure you take your picture quickly! Other flavors include Oreo, Crème Brûlée, Matcha, and Chocolate. It is a puff pastry shell, with flavored rolled ice cream, along with matching toppings. For the strawberry one, it comes with pretzels, real strawberry, whipping cream, and strawberry wafer stick. I found the size of the taiyaki is too big, so you may find it heavy after few bites. But overall, it tastes great.
To be honest, it might not look like the most appetizing drink ever, but it is very delicious. I tried the Taro Barley Milk, and it has real taro, barley, mochi, and oreo. The oreo sweetens the drink, and I love how it adds a crunch to it. Chewy mochi, along with real taro – I am sure it will taste as good if it is hot. All drinks offer both hot and cold, and you can even sub for soy milk for free!
Overall, this dessert place is lovely, because, on top of all the dessert choices, they also provide board games, so I would recommend friends to come to mingle! Make sure to try out their Winter Milk Special, highly recommended!
