Mon Paris Patisserie

Recently, there are a lot of new cafes and dessert places opened in Burnaby, and one of my favorite would be Mon Paris Patisserie. It has a very classy and simple interior design. As soon as you step in the store, you can smell the aroma of chocolate. The pastries and sweets are displayed beautifully, and what always caught my attention are the bonbons!

I am here to pick up my Holiday Gift Basket, which I won from a giveaway hosted by Joyce (@vanfoodies). The basket comes with four of the signature items, which values over $50:

  • Boule de Noel (Chocolate Ornament)
  • A box of assorted macarons (6pcs)
  • A box of assorted bonbons (5pcs)
  • White Chocolate Bark w/ Dried Raspberries, Coconut, and Hibiscus Sugar

Bonbons | $1.50/pc

The most excited would definitely be the bonbons, and it was very nice of them allowing me to choose my own flavors. So I chose the following:

  • Cassis (Black currant compote w/ yogurt ganache)
  • Tiramisu (Coffee and mascarpone ganache w/ cafe Crokine)
  • Guava (Guava jam w/ yogurt ganache)
  • Chestnut & Rum
  • Sesame (White coconut ganache, milk chocolate, and sesame seeds ganache)

My favourite surprisingly is Chestnut & Rum, as I’m never a chestnut fan. But this combination is just magical! The sweetness is balanced. Overall, the bonbons are very similar to the one I tried in New York. I’m craving for more!

Macarons | $2/pc

The basket includes half a dozen of macarons, includes Chocolate, Caramel, Passion Fruit, Lemon, Pistachio, and Green Apple. This is not my first time trying their macarons, and I found them as good as many high-end patisseries (umm even better than them!) The quality and flavor are excellent.

White Chocolate Bark w/ Dried Raspberries, Coconut, and Hibiscus Sugar | $12.75

The barks are on a sweeter side, and I was not a big fan of white chocolate. However, the dried raspberries did give a balance to its sweetness. If the barks are made with dark chocolate, I am sure it would be my newest favorite snack to chew on.

Boule de Noel (Chocolate Ornament) | $18

The chocolate ornament itself is made of white chocolate, with a milk chocolate platform. Once you crack it open, it comes with two surprise truffles. I believe I got the tiramisu and passion fruit. I love its design and idea, and I would say it is a cute gift to coworkers or friends.
