Recently, I was invited to one of the participated restaurant for the #BBQlicious event hosted by Budweiser. The event celebrates the best slow-cooked BBQ at some of the top restaurants across Canada. I chose to try the BBQ at Smokes & Bones BBQ. It is located in Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver. It is a 10 minute bus ride from the Lonsdale Quay. Although the restaurant is far away from the city, it has numerous reviews and a 4.4 rating on Google. I was excited to try the ribs in person!

It has a spacious patio, which is perfect for large groups. Indoor is bright and spacious as well. You can choose sit at the bar, or grab a comfortable couch to enjoy the meal.

The #BBQlicious menu has four items; each is paired with a Budweiser as a combo. I chose the Pork Back Ribs, while he chose the Beef Brisket. The combo also comes with house made cornbread and your choice of 2 sides. There are 4 sides to choose from: BBQ pit beans, coleslaw, French fries, and potato salad. So we decided to get all of them to try.

They also has a Barbeque Platter, which has a bit of everything. It comes with 2 sleeves of Budweiser and feeds 2-3 people. It is $70, which is reasonable for its portion.

The Pork Back Ribs arrives first. The half slab is smoked with hardwood and finished with the house made rib glaze. The ribs are juicy and not over-glazed. The glaze is seasoned perfectly.

I ordered the BBQ pit beans and French Fries as my sides. I highly recommend getting the signature BBQ pit beans. It is like baked beans, but the elevated version. It is baked with apple slices that a hint of sweetness makes the dish flawless. Fries are seasoned well, but nothing special.

Beef Brisket arrived shortly after, and it comes with two huge slices. The beef brisket is made with certified angus beef and is smoked for 14 hours over a hardwood fire. It is served with a house made BBQ sauce. The meat is on a fattier side, but it melts in my mouth. I prefer eating it without the sauce, because it is already flavourful on its own.

He ordered the Coleslaw and Potato Salad for the sides, and they are not too outstanding. We would stick with the BBQ pit beans and French fries.

We tried the house made Cornbread in the end, and it is shaped like a muffin. It is delicious, and I totally took the leftover home for next day’s breakfast.

Overall Impression

I highly recommend trying Smokes & Bones BBQ, especially you are meat lover. They won a lot of competitions from their ribs and beef brisket. The price is reasonable because they come in huge portions. We went on a sunny day, so it is such an awesome date to take the Seabus and explore North Vancouver while we are there. I would totally go all the way there just to eat their ribs again.
