Chef’s Playground Eatery

I would like to introduce you all to my new favorite restaurant in Steveston, Richmond – Chef’s Playground Eatery. Since I wanted to fully enjoy the sunshine, my friend decided to drive to Steveston, and here we are concluding our night with this fabulous dinner.

Steveston is full of hidden gems, and this restaurant is particularly unique. The restaurant is cozy. I love their open kitchen a lot! There are only two people running the restaurant, the chef and the server! I was very impressed that they still manage to serve the food in a timely manner. Chef told us that their menu changes seasonally, or whenever he felt like it. And more importantly, from the balsamic glaze to the syrup of the drinks, they are all made IN HOUSE!

We ordered an appetizer and two mains to share. My friend also got a glass of red wine. The portion is huge, so it is definitely good for sharing.

Brussel Sprouts n’ Cauliflower

I rarely ordered this as my appetizer, but I did not regret it. Instead, I changed my impression of cauliflower and brussel sprouts. I love the crispiness of the vegetables and just fell in love with their in-house balsamic glaze. It is a very good start to our meal. I would highly recommend it to anyone, even those who do not like vegetables, just like me. | 5/5

Sticky Ale Back Ribs

I chose pork back ribs, which is also a dish that I rarely order. I am always scared to get my hands dirty during a meal, but I was attracted by the name of the dish LOL! We thought the back ribs could be more tender, but it does not affect the overall flavor as much. The BBQ sauce was delicious. Oh if you do not know, I also do not eat onion. But the sauce just entirely covers the flavor of onion, and I hope I can soak the pork ribs in more of the sauce. | 4/5

Crispy Curry Chicken Burger

We were actually planning to order the Big Boss Burger, but they ran out of the blue cheese sauce. So the server recommended we try the crispy chicken burger. Unlike any ordinary chicken burger, the bun has a thin layer of curry aioli. The server told us that the burger has no other sauces on it, in order to maintain the crispiness of the chicken. I like how caring the chef is, but I also want to have more aioli to dip my burger and fries at the same time.

Overall, I had some unique experiences in this restaurant. I am a very picky eater, but after being a food blogger, I started to be more open to trying different dishes and especially vegetables. Of course, it was a very fun night to catch up and gossip with my friend. Oh! I heard that they have a stunning brunch menu, so for sure, I would return for more food.
